Job Summary: The Production Technician is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and inspecting window sash, screen, and related components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves reading detailed work instructions and blueprints, gathering materials, assembling aluminum and glass components, rolling and fabricating window screens, and ensuring finished products meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble parts and components per detailed work instructions, blueprints, assembly layouts, part lists, and specifications.
- Follow and interpret engineering drawings, technical instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Gather parts, materials, and tools from inventory using supplied pick lists.
- Inventory parts and tools used in the assembly process.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area while meeting safety and quality requirements.
- Perform testing, calibration, and quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
- Discern quality of parts and materials prior to and during assembly.
- Pick and prepare all necessary components required for window sash fabrication.
- Lift and position window glass panes onto rotating suction wheels or workstations.
- Apply glazing materials to glass edges and assemble aluminum sash components using mallets, fasteners, pneumatic tools, and silicone adhesives.
- Inspect completed sash assemblies for quality, accuracy, and workmanship.
- Load finished window sash units onto hand carts and label production batches with job information.
- Measure, cut, and roll screen material to specified dimensions.
- Assemble window screens using aluminum frames, spline, and screen rolling equipment.
- Ensure screen tension, alignment, and finish meet quality standards.
- Inspect completed screens for defects and proper fit prior to staging or packaging.
- Safely handle screen materials, frames, and related components during production.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
- Prior experience with window sash fabrication, screen rolling, aluminum fabrication, or glass handling is a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend printed order sheets, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of window sash fabrication, glazing techniques, screen rolling, and screen assembly.
- Experience using hand tools, mallets, hammers, pneumatic drivers, cordless drills, pliers, caulking, and glazing equipment.
- Ability to read a tape measure and accurately recognize material lengths.
- Familiarity with aluminum, glass, fasteners, adhesives, and screen materials.
- Good communication skills and willingness to take direction.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Demands
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate hand tools, measuring tools, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to stand for the entire duration of the work shift.
- Regular handling of glass, aluminum, and screen materials.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/factory environment with exposure to noise, odors, dust, and temperature fluctuations.
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
